Geeze, I'm full of stupid questions today, but when it has to do with the moronic rules of dish, you can never be to sure.

Just had someone call who has moved to the area from Texas. They have a 522 from SBC. They are only renting for 4 months, hence the Dish Mover;) . Will we get paid, aside from the normal Dish BS? I ask because of memories I have from Dish's lease program from many years ago. Dish would not pay any more money on those TLP leased systems no matter how many years later it was. We once added a 3rd receiver to one of these TLP lease program accounts 5 years later and they would not pay the addition receiver activation fee because it was a lease.

Anyone have experience getting paid on an SBC leased system for a Dish Mover?

... SBC leased system for a Dish Mover
hmmm... dang good question young weed-hopper.

Me thinks: "No" is the answer.

I certainly would not touch it with-out a positive supporting email from RS.

And even if you do get approval from RS, IMHO - your NUTS to go near it...

Maybe charge the full Dish Mover price and sell them the Dish 500. When they move give them the money back for the Dish less "restocking fee". I dunno?

I'm with Claude on this one...I'm not even sure I'd touch any of these partner sales.

Mainly, because if I was the one that the original installer, I'd be pretty miffed if something went wrong with payments after the move was completed..after all, you're not a SBC/Dish retailer, you're just a Dish Retailer.

whenever we install a sbc/dish dha system as dns, we do have a different form for the customer to sign, but nothing major. looks like branding difference in the wording is the only thing different. get this, dns requires that we take the smart card door off and replace it with an sbc branded smart card door "prior to arriving at customers home".

I really don't think that you would have any problem doing a dish mover on any sbc account. its a dha, just like one sold through radio shack, sears, walmart, etc.

Call RS to verify, but I would do it without even calling.

Interesting. But how can you say an SBC labled system is JUST like Rat Shack, Sears, or Wal-Mart because SBC is more like Pegasus was to DTV ? Whereas Rat Shack and Sears isn't so !

SBC is not part of DISH. SBC owns their customers they bought into DISH so they could buy programming wholesale and resell it. I would be very leary about DISH paying on a customer that isn't theirs.

thanks for the clarification aion and boba. I would have to change my position and definitely get a position on this from RS or the Charlie-less Chat on Monday.

I get many Snowbirds from up north that want to use the Dish Movers program when they come down here.
I ask them if they are actually moving or just staying here for a few months and then going back home.
The always say they are going back.
I tell them that I beleive that they would be taking advantage of they system and I consider it fraud.
I will sell them a new D500 plus installation or they can call Dish

So they wouldn't be Dish Network customers and we could install them as brand spanking new full commissioned Dish customers, just like someone who may have never subscribed to Dish programming, but happened to have paid full price for a Dish receiver to maybe watch an unaffiliated religious programming service? D'Oh!:D

Coming soon to business rules near you:

If a customer has ever used a FTA receiver they will be considered an existing customer, but of course only in cases where it would screw you the dealer out of any and all hard earned moneys.

We used to take the same position on dishmovers as prohangups. We decided to change when we learned that dish network is perfectly willing to perform the dish mover themselves, even when they know full well that it is a seasonal home arrangement.

Made me look stupid (which isn't hard) when thier local dish network retailer considers it wrong and dish net rolls a truck the next day.
